Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 May 2026

Porthole is built around a single privacy principle: we don't collect what we don't need. Anonymous users provide nothing. We don't track what you watch, where you browse, or who you are.

Information We Collect

Anonymous users: Nothing. No name, no email, no IP address retained, no browsing history stored.

Session data: Porthole sets cookies to support age gate confirmation and to track your browsing allowance within daily limits. No browsing history or content viewed is stored.

What We Do Not Collect

  • Browsing history - no record is kept of which pages, videos, or content you viewed on any destination
  • Content of pages viewed
  • Video or media you stream - content flows directly from the site to your device
  • Location data
  • Your identity - no name, email, or personal information is required or collected

Cookies

Porthole sets two first-party cookies:

CookiePurposeDurationCategory
ph_gateRecords your age gate confirmation so the prompt does not repeat in the same browser sessionBrowser sessionEssential
ph_fpAn anonymous random identifier - not linked to your identity - used to count pages against your daily limit365 daysEssential

Porthole does not set analytics or tracking cookies. ExoClick, our advertising partner, sets its own third-party cookies when ads are served on the portal. These are governed by ExoClick's cookie policy and require your consent prior to being set.

Data Retention

ph_gate clears when the browser closes. ph_fp persists for 365 days as an anonymous random identifier - it contains no personal data and cannot be used to identify you. Your page count resets every 24 hours. No browsing history or content viewed is ever stored.

Data Security and Sharing

All data Porthole stores is held on EU infrastructure (Hetzner, Helsinki), accessible only to the service operator, and is never sold, rented, or disclosed to any third party. Porthole will only ever use collected data to operate, maintain, and improve this service.

The one exception is ExoClick, our advertising partner, whose ad technology runs on the Porthole portal. ExoClick processes data under its own privacy policy and under a joint controller relationship with Porthole as required by GDPR. You can prevent ExoClick from loading by selecting "Reject advertising" on the consent banner - note this limits you to 2 pages per session.

Your Rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

Data Transfers

Porthole's systems operate within the EU (Hetzner Helsinki). Session routing involves anonymised connections through Porthole's partner network. No personal data is transmitted via the routing layer.
